Many of the core concepts in internet marketing may be strange to you if you’re new to it. You might not have a complete understanding of how to make money online.
Even if you have more experience, you may still be unable to appreciate the intricacy of the web’s economic dynamics. What is the motivation behind it? What happens to all of the money? Where did they originate? So, what’s the game plan?
Understanding this will help you better manage those systems so you can start earning money, as well as de-mystify a lot of what we’ll cover in coming chapters.
This is a post I’d want for my grandmother to read. She always wants to know how I make money and if it’s legal!
To individuals who don’t understand how to make internet marketing work for them, it may appear miraculous. You act as if you’re a sorceress capable of conjuring money out of thin air (and of course this is part of the appeal of understanding internet marketing).
They’ll be even more surprised when they learn that the money is flowing in while you sleep!
The Economy of the Internet
Many of the same elements that influence money in the “real world” also influence it on the internet. People buy things, and people who buy actual stuff earn the majority of the money (items from stores).
On sites like eBay, Amazon, clothes stores, and even grocery, you may find digital products (eBooks on how to make money or get in shape), services (legal services, consultancy, dating websites, marketing, writing, photography), holidays, and more.
You’re probably aware of this because you probably do a lot of your shopping online these days. Even if you don’t make the purchase online, you can perform research, such as checking for the nearest hairdresser or restaurant in your neighbourhood. Traditional businesses that you’re probably familiar with all make a lot of money online, and yours might as well.
You, on the other hand, are unlikely to have the time to establish a company like this. If you’re a working professional, you probably won’t have time to create a hair salon, provide legal advice, or sell t-shirts in the evenings.
These are business strategies that need a large financial investment, a significant amount of time, specialised knowledge and experience, and so on.
This isn’t a hobby or a side hustle!
Of course, one way to get around this is to sell something that can be made quickly and does not require a huge financial investment. This could suggest, for instance, the sale of an ebook.
An ebook is a Word document or a PDF file created with Microsoft Word. As a result, it won’t require any specialised knowledge or abilities to construct, won’t cost you anything, and won’t require storage.
You may also sell it a limitless number of times while just having to make it once. The same regulations apply to apps, games, online courses, and other “digital things.”
The Role of the Internet Marketer
The issue is that these things appeal to a specific demographic, and convincing someone to spend money on something they can’t physically grasp takes a lot of convincing.
This is where internet marketing enters the picture. Selling a digital product and then earning endlessly from a single file that was only produced once is a simple form of internet marketing.
In this case, your main responsibilities will be to pay for online advertising, try to reach the top of Google (which takes time), or send messages to people on a mailing list.
It isn’t, however, the only way you can employ your internet marketing expertise. All of these endeavours necessitate the use of eyes. People must be able to locate all of those apparel outlets, hair salons, and vacation spots.
As a result, they’re willing to pay others — both directly and indirectly — to spread the word.
Many websites will profit from this type of advertising without having to sell anything on their site.
You can make money in this situation by charging users monthly fees to display banner advertising on your website, or you can make money through Google AdWords and other networks that connect advertisers with relevant content creators.
You will normally earn a very small amount when someone clicks on your ad or when it is shown to a new user in the later scenario. In any event, the more people that visit your website, the more money you can make.
In most situations, YouTube videos make money by presenting advertisements at the beginning of the video or by being compensated by sponsors to promote products.
You can think of how you make money in this case as being comparable to distributing a free magazine on the subway.
You did not pay for the magazine, but it is totally covered in adverts, and the advertisers that paid for it knew it would be viewed by a large number of people.
You can also earn money by marketing a product directly. This can be done by obtaining a sponsorship deal, as many Instagram and YouTube superstars have done, or by selling affiliate products.
This final strategy involves commission-based product sales. The seller will provide you with a unique link to their website that only you will know about, and any purchases made through that link will be credited to your account, earning you a percentage of each transaction.
In summary, the capacity of an internet marketer to bring attention to an issue and voice opinions is critical to their success. You’ll be able to boost sales of both your own and other manufacturers’ and sellers’ products if you do so.
If you’re a busy professional, these skills can help you grow your own business or start making money on the side in the evenings.
And in the next post, you’ll learn how to do both in the smallest amount of time and with the least amount of effort.
See you in the next post.
